Desiree Boykins

Desiree Boykins and Eric Ellis have recently joined the agency's Board of Directors. Desiree is a shining example of self-advocacy that came to the attention SCLARC leadership as a result of her participation in SCLARC's Consumer Self-Advocacy Group. Deeply passionate about issues surrounding developmental disabilities, Desiree hopes to one day become a service coordinator at SCLARC. She is currently matriculating at Cal State University at Dominguez Hills in order to pursue this dream.

The oldest of four children, Desiree has never been one to dwell on those things that others might consider limitations. As president of SCLARC's Self-Advocacy Group, she set high standards for herself and other consumers by consistently moving forward in order to realize her full potential.

"My issue as a board member would be to make sure that the Self-Advocacy group is aware of what is going on as a whole at SCLARC. I like learning about the regional center and I want to make sure others understand how things work here."
