Fred Washington

Fred Washington is no stranger to South Central Los Angeles Regional Center having served on the Board of Directors from 1986 until 1990 and again from 1994 to 2000. The parent of a SCLARC consumer diagnosed with Down Syndrome, he is familiar with the challenges that families face when advocating on behalf of developmentally disabled loved ones. Over the years, Mr. Washington’s community involvement has mirrored his commitment and service to SCLARC’s stakeholders and includes lobbying efforts that funded projects which serve developmentally disabled people.

Professionally, Fred Washington has worked for the last 22 years in transportation management and conflict resolution. Having worked for the Amtrak Corporation for a number of years, he has held a number of positions including that of Hearing Officer and other various personnel positions.

Mr. Washington and his wife are the proud parents of four wonderful children, one of which is currently a student at Stanford University where he plays on the basketball team. When not devoting time as an associate minister for Greater Ebenezer Baptist Church, Mr. Washington, who is also an avid musician, takes great joy in pursuing his hobby of photography.
